Mary Eve Beckett Summers

I have been in Norman after moving here in our Junior year from Louisiana. I met John here at O.U. and we loved Norman, and stayed. It has been a great place to raise children, and keep up with O.U. sports. I received my BA in Interior Design, and then got an Elementary Education teaching certification. I taught at Cleveland Elementary for five years. Then came the kids, and I worked at home, and did volunteer work like PTA, Scouts, Junior League, and Assistance League, along with Tri Delta Alumnae, and Beta Sigma Phi. I started my own Design business about 18 years ago, and then got my Real Estate license about 5 years ago, and I work at Don Cies Real Estate. I can sell a home and then help people decorate it, or list it and stage it. It has been a fun career.

I have fond memories of Norman High. It was a blast being the "new girl". Carol Blakey and I loved to play practical jokes including starting the "Ralph Fan Club". Were you an esteemed member? I wonder if they still have the "Howdy Hop" or the "Now or Never " Dance. We ate lunch a lot at Sandy's- for some reason I ate the fish sandwich most of the time. I think occasionally we ventured to Baskin and Robbins. We were stuck on campus even if we had cars.
