Taylor Jones
Taylor Moore Jones, 77, of Briarlicff, Texas went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 23, 2025. He was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. His love for his family was his greatest joy and he will be remembered for his immense love and kindness he showed to all.
Taylor was born on June 17, 1948 to Hugh and Billye Jones in Cameron, Texas. After graduating from Norman High School in 1966, he attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Houston. Go Sooners!
He served in the Coast Guard from 1968 to 1972 and was very proud of his service. After leaving the service, he met his wife, Delia in Houston and married in 1974. They were married for 51 golden years!
Taylor came from a very musical family and loved to sing. Taylor and Delia became members of the Lake Travis United Church on Easter Sunday in 1991. He loved singing in the church choir and made many friends throughout the years.
He loved sports and his favorite baseball team was the Houston Astros. He has been an avid fan for 60 years, his first game being in the summer of 1965! Go Astros!
Taylor was a very generous and good-hearted person that loved helping others. He donated blood and plasma for 20 years and was especially proud that his blood was used for newborn babies. He also enjoyed taking meals to the elderly through the Meals on Wheels Program in Austin which he did for 8 years and Fishes and Loaves in Lakeway for 2 years.
Taylor had a love for oak trees. He grew and sold red oak, live oak and bur oak trees since the 1980s. Seeing a large, beautiful oak tree always brought him great joy and he loved taking his family to visit the Treaty Oak Tree in downtown Austin.
Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Billye Jones, his brother Victor Jones, his brother-in-law Bill Woodall and his nephew, David Jones. He is survived by his wife, Delia and his children, Taylor Jones II, Margaret-Anne Moore (Craig Moore), Catherine Castruita (John Castruita), Paul Jones and his grandchildren Jett Jones, Braison Jones, Boston Jones, Sawyer Jones, Banks Jones, Parker Moore, Camden Moore, Mylie Moore, Melody Castruita, Aria Castruita, Haley Castruita and his great grandchild, Laken Moore, and his brothers Guy Jones (Deb Jones), Dennis Jones, and his sister Vada Woodall and many nieces and nephews.
