Gordon Hoffman

Gordon Scott Hoffman, 73, of Lubbock, Texas, a member of the Norman High class of 1966, passed away on April 24, 2021. Gordon was born on March 30, 1948, in Mankato, Minnesota to Clifford J. Hoffman and Jimmye V. Lowe.

Graveside Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Idalou Cemetery with Jerry McKay and Stanley Goodwin officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. Sunday May 2, 2021, at Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

Mr. Hoffman died Saturday afternoon at Covenant Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was deployed to Germany where he served three years, earning a National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Expert M-14 Badge, and the 2D Class Misslemans Badge. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

He married Diane Loftis, the love of his life, in 1970 in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to the Woodrow area with their two sons in 1977.

He got his bachelor's degree in political science from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview.

He served with the Lubbock Police Department for 29 years before retiring at the rank of lieutenant. He came out of retirement and served at the Texas Tech Police Department for 12 years, retiring as deputy chief.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother and his sister Melissa Jones, all of Crosbyton.

Survivors include: his wife Diane; two sons, Rusty Hoffman and wife Lori of Lubbock, TX, Michael Hoffman and wife Sharon of Prosper, TX; five grandchildren, Caleigh, Ashleigh and Colin Hoffman of Lubbock, TX and Alexander and Benjamin Hoffman of Prosper, TX; two brothers, Phillip Hoffman and Greg Hoffman, both of Crosbyton, TX; two aunts, Jane Parker of Crosbyton and Sammie Edwards of Las Cruces, NM.
