Janis Sue (Holsonbake) Hawkins Tusen

Janis Sue (Holsonbake) Hawkins Tusen went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at age 70.  She passed away from a lengthy illness and is finally at peace.

Janis was born in Corbett, Okla., on August 12, 1948. She was the 12th and last child born to Jewell and L.D. Holsonbake. She began school at Valley Grove School in Corbett Oklahoma. The Holsonbake family moved to Norman Oklahoma in 1958 and Janis attended Jefferson Elementary, Central Junior High and graduated from Norman High School in 1966.  In 1968, she married Larry Hawkins. Together they had two children, Dustin and Stacy.

In 1995, she married David Tusen and they celebrated 23 years of marriage on December 28, 2018.

Janis was a devout Christian, of the Baptist faith who loved the Lord. She worked and retired from Norman Regional Hospital after 22 years of service.  She loved reading, fishing, travel, visiting friends and watching her grandsons play football.

She is survived by her husband, David of the home; her sons Dustin (Misty) Hawkins of Paoli, Okla., and Stacy (Earl) Lovins of Newalla, Okla.; grandchildren Kadie, Justin, Garrett, Jake, and Jaylee; along with two great-grandchildren, Makayla, and Taylor. Janis is survived by her brother Marlon Dale (Betty) Holsonbake and three sisters; Fredona (Sparlin) Rose, Sharon (Jim) Dickerson and Linda (Chuck) Oliphant, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her surviving brother and sisters-in-law reside in Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Wyman and Dwight Holsonbake, five sisters; Norma Jean Darling, Marcille Blair, Rumell Kennedy-LeCrone, Joann Baker and Jacqueline Holsonbake.
